WINGATE -- Miss Eulala Hormell, 93, retired English and history teacher, died at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at the home of a niece, Mrs. Garna Cheek of near Wingate, where she had lived eight years. Miss Hormell had taught in Montgomery County and in Washington state. She had attended Union Christian College at Valparaiso and received her master's degree from Indiana University. She had been a member of the Pleasant Hill Christian Church for 80 years. She was born Sept. 6, 1874, in Coal Creek Township to Garner and Mary Elizabeth (Thomas) Hormell. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Edith Owens of Carmel; a brother, Owen Hormell of Brunswick, Maine; four nieces, Mrs. Mary Cunningham of Freedom, N. H.; Mrs. Martha Verinck of Gainesville, Fla., Mrs. Mildred Hanika of Carmel and Mrs. Cheek, and a nephew, Dr. Robert Hormell of Millrose, Mass. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Thompson and Miss Mary Hormell. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today at Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown with Rev. Homer Hunsinger officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
